Professionals from Summit Educational Resources with expertise in child development will offer developmental screenings for preschoolers on Friday, January 11th, 2013, from 9 a.m. – noon, at Summit’s Hamburg office located at 4535 Southwestern Boulevard, Suite 707.
The complimentary screening will take approximately 30 minutes and cover language/communication, cognitive development, social/emotional development, and physical development. Following the screening, Summit therapists and psychologists will be on hand to discuss the results and next steps.
“It’s not unusual for parents to take a ‘wait and see’ approach when they notice that their child isn’t hitting typical developmental milestones,” said Dr. Kathy Honer, Director of Summit’s Early Childhood Outreach Division. “We encourage parents not to wait and instead to intervene early and get their child the help he or she needs. When we’re able to work with children at a very young age, it’s not unusual for them to catch up to their peers in time for entry to kindergarten,” she explained.
