Parents donate tournament proceeds to Community Connections Program

Community ConnectionsRenee Gilbert visited Summit on September 7 to present a check for $6000 representing proceeds from the annual “Hope Fore Tomorrow” golf tournament which she organizes each year with her husband, Chuck. Started in 2009, the tournament has raised nearly $30,000 to fund scholarships for children and adolescents to participate in Summit’s Community Connections program, a five-week summer program which focuses on the development of appropriate social skills. “Our daughter has benefited tremendously from this program and we wanted the opportunity to ‘give back.’ When she started kindergarten, she never spoke to a single person. Now, entering sixth grade, she’s carrying on conversations!” Mrs. Gilbert said.
