Are you the parent of a child under the age of two with a speech delay? You and your child may benefit from attending Summit’s Parent/Child Group which is held year-round on Thursday evenings from 6:15 – 7:15 p.m. at our 150 Stahl Road location in Getzville. This one-hour, weekly program gives young children the opportunity to play, sing, and learn with peers in a fun but structured environment. Sessions are led by certified professionals in special education or speech language pathology.

These sessions help children develop communication and social skills with the teacher, parents, and other children and set the stage for success in preschool. Parents and children will interact using a variety of creative communication strategies directed toward preschool readiness.

All activities are centered on weekly themes explored through play, movement, singing and storytelling. Parents and teacher will monitor progress toward transitioning to the classroom setting. Parents will also learn skills to provide similar activities at home and facilitate generalization.

New weekday morning groups are forming.
